This is a new thread, (we'll see how it goes ) for your recommendations of any product that you have used or discovered and now wouldn't be without!
Criteria for entries is that it has to be under £50, at least available to all the UK, preferably all the world!! i.e via internet shops or national stores.
And you have to have used it yourself.
Please include description of product , place purchased and price, and add a link if you like. _________________ Be yourself...everyone else is already taken.

Thought it ought to be on the Making Life Easier with Tha Cap'n board mind?
That's probably because there's not been much on there lately though
Anyhow - this sounds bad, but isn't meant to be
I'm often complemented on my fingernails (three times on holiday even)
and my routine is to massage my cuticles and the base of my nails with a
conditioning oil - which I think promotes good strength in the nail bed?
I do it as often as I can, and always when I'm a passenger on long car journeys
My nails grow quickly too.
A friend recommended an Opi conditoning oil which is quite expensive and
contains avocado oil, it lasts a long time and is good, but to be honest before
that I used cheap almond oil from the pharmacy - and I think it's the regular
massage that makes a difference, rather than what you use?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of that apart, my recommendation is for a commercial oven cleaner
it's called 'Oven-Mate' and I got it from Lakeland Plastics. It makes cleaning the
oven kids' play - but it is very caustic (like anything that'd shift tha grease) so you need to take care (although it doesn't have those noxious fumes that sprays can have because it's a thick gel that you apply with a brush) I leave mine on overnight and it does all the work for you - except wiping both it, and the grease, away afterwards

I may be a new man, but even I'm not *that* new!
Anyway, under 50 quid, I can't be without.... Errrrm. Can't think of anything...
OH! Yes I can :cough:
I'm not usually into games, but this one is really cool.. It's a move based game, in that there are no time limits, and whilst it's your move, nothing happens.
It's called "DROD" and has many levels - each screen is based on a 'large chess board' type thing, and each time you make one move, every monster in the room makes a move too - their moves are predictable - each monster has an exact and simple mode of movement, though there are different monsters, and each one has its own rules.
It's really fun, and easy to pick up, because the first few levels are almost like a guide - they introduce different aspects of the game level by level.
The 'demo' version contains a fully playable first three levels, and is WELL WORTH IT.
The full version then only costs about £10.00
(Disclaimer: The fact I'm part of the team, doing conversions to various unix platforms - and retrieving royalties for it - is not relevent )
Seriously though, play the demo!

Hand held digital food thermometer (strictly speaking i can't recommend this yet because i have only just ordered it) but with barbecue season coming up i thought i'd get one to be on the safe side.
This is the one I ordered about half an hour ago at a brilliant price.

You can wait and see if it actually works when i get it

Eeerrrrmmmmmm Moley, do you think you might be a tad addicted to this temperature testing? Can't quite see the point in buying one myself |
Well i got it really for the barbecue food, (we have a lot of barbies here ) it's all very welll thinking it looks cooked but you can never tell for sure by looking eh.

heya moley!!
i work in a pharmacy so i try out all sorts of things that i never would otherwise
and i bought this 4 way nail buffer
and it rocks my world!!
my nails were hot
and i got everyone at work to touch them the next day...they were so shiny and smooth they couldn't believe i didn't have clear nail polish on!!
also...im a big fan of the cuticle trimmer...
* Stainless Steel (like my cutlery...goood gooood)
* Easy to use Cuticle Trimmer tidies excess cuticles and hangnails (i just hate excess cuticles)
* Extra sharp Stainless Steel blades give smooth snag free trimming (yay! snag free! lol, i used old ones at home and they were not very sharp anymore and needless to say there were snags a plenty...it looked like my cat had been munching on my finger )
* Moulded handle gives comfortable grip (comfort comes first)
okay last thing i have to add is this - SILKYMIT
This is info for all you german readers...
Für samtweiche und
haarfreie Beine:
der Haarentfernungs-Handschuh
-die sensible Alternative zum Rasieren oder Epilieren.
1 Packung = 3 Stück: 11,- €
http://www.blushingbuyer.co.uk/acatalog/Alternative_Hair_Removal_Methods.html
(this link is to another type of Silkymit...its not the one i use...probably just the british packaging or sommat...actually the only place i can find that pic i have up is on foreign websites...oh well its okay i prefer it to the other boring one anyway...it just screams out DONUT KING...actually they both have the same tag line...hmmmm...perhaps unnatural shorthaired blondes in half their nightware appeal more to brits than aussies...as opposed to medium length brunettes in their underwear...ahahaha...and i am also referring to the product for the legs not the face...fortunately i need to wait a few more decades before i have to test that product...but ill keep you posted )
and now for the rest of us...
firstly i wouldn't suggest using it in quite the position the lady is on the front packet.
The silky mitt is actually not very silky at all. It resembles sandpaper more than a mitt and it is navy blue on both sides. As well as offering pain free, easy hair removal, it also removes dead skin cells and gently exfoliates as you use it, leaving skin silky soft (and surrounded by a tha menshun o' this cullur be banned coz it be tha cullur o' SNAW powdery substance = dead skin...)
lol, it sounds gross...but its great and i love it and im so glad i dont have to use a razor or horrid wax on my legs again!!!
The instructions are as follows:
1) Skin must be dry --> this is a must
2) Rotate the glove in a gentle circular motion --> GENTLY!!!
3) Without lifting the mit from the skin surface, rub in a clockwise direction 4 times, then anticlockwise 4 times --> i dont count...i daydream and then change direction when i feel a burning sensation...
4) Do rub gently. Do rub in circular motions. Don't rub up and down
5) The fine tha menshun o' this cullur be banned coz it be tha cullur o' SNAW powder that appears is the natural accumulation resulting from the gentle grinding action which removes hair and exfoliates the skin
6) Apply a cool damp towel to the legs, followed by a moisturising lotion. Your legs will be silky smooth. ---> WARNING! WARNING! do NOT do this!!! ahahaha!!! your legs will become blotchy and red and irritated and if you are really soft..errr..sensitive...they will bleed!
okay i know it seems like a bit of a bother...as opposed to shaving ur legs which takes three minutes...and silkmit takes about 20 minutes
but its worth it! just remember to be gentle...my friend used it and she totally loves it except for the fact that for some reason it makes her legs bleed. lol. i dont know how hard she presses, but ive never had that experience. and the only other thing to remember is to not, EVER, under any circumstance put water or cream or lotion on your legs for about a couple of hours. i mean you dont really need to, your legs are sooooo santadamn smooth afterwards anyway (really...like a baby's bottom ). i didn't do it the first time...but the second time i did...ahahaha...boy did i learn to go with my gut instincts and not the flaming instructions!!!
also...women have been using this product since like WWII!! so its been around for a while...those factory working women i reckon...saw some sandpaper on the ground, thought hey! what if i use it to grate against my skin and see what happens! ahaha.
oh and last thing, it does make the hair that grows back finer and finer each time. and claims to eventually stop it all together...but we'll see...
anyway...
they are my products that i reccommend...specifically for females...lol...but really to anyone who is interested...
ahahah!!
karma to moley for a great topic...
sorry to overrun it with beauty products!!
