I tend to use my cookery books for inspiration, or just to read and look at the pics, rather than following the recipes strictly.

I must say I love that selection of Nigel Slater books I got recently, he writes so entertainingly, and is very encouraging, I don't think anyone need be scared of cooking with his books to hand Praise you!

Love Nigel Slater cook books - well Mr S does. Mr S cooks from them, think he thinks it's 'blokey' food Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud I an't complaining though Laugh Out Loud

Bought the Gordon Ramsay 'Fast Food' book - mainly cos had ordered the new Harry Potter and needed another book to take me to free delivery on Amazon! Haven't looked at it yet - it arrived the day we went away even though I wasn't expecting it so quickly! Will have a read and report back!

Cap'n, those old cookbooks are great. I am toying with doing a course which, if it turns out to be what I'm hoping, would mean I would study food in the north of England........would be heavenly to get into all those old recipes and household hints!
