Yes Liz, we had some snow on Wednesday I think it was, but it wasn't bad and didn't stay over night.
We haven't had so much bird activity of late
but we have had
robins
blackbirds
thrushes
wood pigeons
ring collared doves
sparrows
chaffinches
jays
and our green woodpecker
just not in such large numbers as we usually see
we also have
coal tits *
blue tits
and great tits
there you go, all the smutty jokes in one fell swoop there
* when I was little, I used to think they were called COLD tits
ps how could I have forgotten to put Mr Angry in to the list???
He's our little pied wagtail, who I always expect to see wearing a peaked cap like a parking warden We call him Mr Angry because he spends most of his time guarding the food and trying to see the other birds off! lol _________________ |

Big Garden birdwatch this wekend.
Three goldfinches yesterday.
Rosey do you get a lot of seed falling onto the ground from the niger feeder? seems to be a lot of waste.
Going to watch the birds for an hour! |

Yeah - the seed is so fine, that is does tend to blow all over the place. It's a VERY quick germinator, too!
That's why niger seed feeders are so useful - I assume that's what you're using, rather than a "regular" seed feeder? |

but hubby spotted on tha golf course on Sunday...note he is pretty awful at naming birds-LOL
3 kites -(can identify them)
2 small eagle things (prob kestrels by his description)
various noisy seabirds on the cliff??????
the reason he came back talkin of birds was that they(the birds of prey) had the NERVE to be on the greens and were diving in and out of the gorse wif baby bunnies..and he hit two balls into the River Forth coz of the noisy seabirds!
the golf course he was on is close to the BASS ROCK

they are sooooo cute Icy....there are lots around the cliffs on the mainland coasts and the islands.....my favourite spot is way up north near John o' Groats at Duncansby Head ...there are thousands of 'em....also saw them on Orkney and at Mey. where the late queen mum had a house---well castle actually!...got so carried away i came back with a soft puffin toy, numerous bit of junk puffin 'jewellery', puffin carrier bags etc etc...they are called sea parrots up there---good piratey birds! _________________

We love puffins, see them when we visit the channel islands
and
oh here we go again, you're all going to say I'm barking again BUT
we have a used postage stamp off channel island mail, which Mr Frillz and I take turns to hide around the house, the game being you say nothing at all, just move it when you spot it somewhere
Ooooh months of fun for the family _________________ |
