As you know, when you get karma or 'post liked/disliked', you don't necessarily get to know.

So, I've added a "notifications" link at the top of the screen.

When someone has altered your karma, or liked/disliked your post, a notification message is put in for you.

Also, the 'notification' link will be in red and show the number of notifications:

Click on the link to see the notifications, and to delete them (NB. I've not written the 'delete' part of the code now, will do that at another date!)

Any other things you can think useful to 'notify' on?

that's strange.. it appeared to work.

does it still give errors? I've modified the code so it will give a unique error message from now on - unfortunately, the error message you got appeared identically in the code at 6 different places, so I'm not sure at which one of six the error was at!

So, if you get any errors again, please post the error message here!

Doh. I'm an idiot.

I know why it doesn't work for Cap'n!

I forgot to smart-quote the username, and the "'" in your username caused the program to get confused (as a ' is used to seperate strings)

Ok, Notification code update: I still haven't added the 'delete notifications' code, but the Notifications link now only highlights NEW notifications. So if you click http://themolehill.bishsite.com/catflap_notifications.php then your notification count will be reset.

Also, on that page, 'old' notifications are shown with a grey background
